Cantina Band

Cantina Band is a universally recognised instrumental theme composed by John Williams for George Lucas's film Star Wars. It accompanies the famous Mos Eisley cantina scene, in which the heroes discover a bustling bar filled with smugglers, travellers, and alien creatures. Within the film's universe, the piece is officially performed by the fictional group Figrin D'an and the Modal Nodes.

The general public immediately recognises Cantina Band for its cheerful, eccentric, and highly distinctive style. Inspired by swing, Dixieland jazz, and festive brass band music, it deliberately contrasts with the epic tone of the rest of the score. Its driving rhythm and bouncing brass lines have made it one of the most popular and most frequently parodied themes in the entire Star Wars saga.
